Description | The Wersi Stage Performer MK1 SII (1986) is a 12 voice (expandable to 20 voices) additiv synthesizer with a rather basic user interface. In addition to the very complex envelopes for every harmonic's volume and pitch, there is only filter for all voices together. So the filter is paraphonic. You may overdrive the filter input with a preset amount. An anlog ensemble FX called Wersi Voice bucket brigade delay based effects (also available as stand alone unit) is selectable as master FX.
The additive wave shapes are calculated on the digital main board. The results are then sent to the digital voices boards (2 voices on one board) as a short sample with the length of one wave cycle. If needed 4 keyboard zones are defined to get individual adjusted additive waveshapes. The loudness and frequency envelopes are very complex ones. In the standard modus they are defined by pairs of time and level values to get linear shapes. In the module modes the envelopes are defined by little macro elements that are defining rising or falling slopes in linear or exponential shape, rising or falling sine wave shape amplitudes, random value sections, absolute or relative levels and velocity controlled slopes. And you can add loops with counters in the module mode.
The EX20 is the rack mount version. |

As with a piano, the harder you hit a key, the louder the sound, unlike most organs which always produce the same loudness no matter how hard you hit a key. |
Aftertouch |
Pressing a key after you activated it. Channel Aftertouch, no matter which key, it will send a Channel message. Poly Aftertouch, sends the pressure per key instead of the whole channel. |
Values for OSC, LFO, Filter, Envelope are per voice unless stated otherwise. |
